REVIEWS

Dezanove will surprise you, but don't listen to us; here is what others say:

We spent a week with two families (kids between 1 and 6 years), which worked great with one family upstairs and the other in the downstairs apartment. The house is beautiful in every respect as well as inspiring. Kitchen well equipped. The beach at the footstep is calm and good for swimming and kids. Great morning runs along the seaside. Amazing food throughout Galicia as well as in the house with a private chef. Huge hit with the kids: climbing up the rocks of the Pedras valley and swimming in the pools. We also apprciated all the tips and recommendations in the house and easy communication with Ana and Inaki – Many thanks!

I have just returned with my family from 2 weeks in magical Galicia staying at the Castro Barona/Dezanove House in A Pobra do Caraminal.  There were 6 family adults in our group.  The house accommodated us easily with each having their own bedrooms, 2 bedrooms with own bath top floor and 2 bedrooms bottom floor with one bath.  There is a full bath on the main floor.

The main floor is an open floor plan with massive sliding glass doors overlooking the estuary.  The house is fully equipped with large open kitchen.  The staff, Sonia and Manuela always kept the house spotless for our return from a full day of touring.

Ana and Inaki responded immediately to all my questions, all of which resolved instantaneously. All minor as too workings of the house.

We highly recommend Ana and Inaki recommendations for touring.  I suggest you try Chef Pablo to cook for you at least one time; we arranged four, each amazing.  All traditional with fresh fish, mussels, clams and pulpo.

If you have time book the day outing with Titote Marine.  Carmela and Jose excellent captains and hosts for a fun full day on the water.

The house is centrally located for easy touring of the region.  Some of the most dramatic scenery is easily accessible.

The Gordon family thanks Ana and Inaki for allowing us to use their lovely, modern home.

We had very relaxing and comfortable holiday in this marvelous house. The architecture is really stunning. Every time you see the ocean shimmering just in front of the house you feel relaxed automatically slow down a little bit. The spacious rooms, the modern kitchen and daily cleaning guarantee the luxury experience. Especially the fully equipped kitchen left nothing to be desired. An evening on the roof terrace is the perfect way to end the day.

We also loved to discover Galicia in the surrounding area of Dezanove House. The surf beaches, the rocky pools and the overall green nature are perfect for a diversified holiday experience. And the food in the various restaurants was never a disappointment.

Our week in Dezanove House was very special.  The website had already given us a taste of what awaited us, but the real thing surpassed our expectations.  The house definitely has that elusive ‘wow’ factor with its stunning contemporary design and once inside, peace and tranquillity instantly surround you.  The living area and bedrooms upstairs all have the wonderful panoramic vista of the estuary which you can sit and enjoy for hours on end, following the boats going to and from the distant floating platforms producing mussels – one of the delicacies of the region. The fact that the wood on the walls around you has been floating in the bay for many years links this very modern house with its surroundings and brings the outside in.  It is spacious, wonderfully light and very comfortable; the attention to detail means that you lack nothing.

Sonia, the delightful housekeeper, was there to greet us on our arrival and had prepared a delicious supper of local produce which was much appreciated after our drive from Porto. She was very helpful and friendly.

We loved the area, with its beautiful unspoilt beaches, all within a short drive of the house. We enjoyed our shopping trips into Pobra, which had everything we needed as well as some excellent restaurants where we sampled some of the seafood and tapas dishes for which the region is famous, such as octopus, cuttlefish and Padron peppers.

A visit to the mountain rock pools is a must and the view from the top pool takes the breath away. We were so impressed we returned on our last day to experience it once more.

The region and coastline is obviously a well kept secret among Spanish nationals. We visited Santiago de Compostela one day, which was the only place we saw any international tourists.  Further away, La Coruña is also well worth a visit, with its attractive glass fronted houses overlooking the port in one direction and the beach in the other.  Associated with the Armada and Sir John Moore, there is plenty of historical interest if you can tear yourself away from the wonderful seafood on offer everywhere.
We had a fabulous week and most certainly intend to return.
